Christopher
Daunt Watney takes on the position of Principal at Trinity
Anglican School (TAS) from January 2008. Christopher
has moved to Cairns from Sydney where he was Headmaster
of Sydney Church of England Co-Educational Grammar School,
Redlands. He was at Redlands for ten years and prior
to that was Head of English at Pymble Ladies College
(Sydney) having moved there from The Armidale School
where he spent ten years as Head of English and Senior
Housemaster. He has also taught overseas in Kenya.
Christopher's wide experience
in schools both in Australia and overseas, has seen
him focus consistently on the individual and in fostering
in each student their personal growth as they strive
to achieve their best in the pursuit of excellence.
Christopher was born in
Nairobi, Kenya and educated in England. His wife, Annabel,
was born and grew up in Brisbane. He completed his
university degrees at UQ and UNE where he majored in
English, History, French and Journalism. His Master's
degree is in Education. Christopher has worked in industry
in sales and marketing and has written as a theatre
critic. He is a keen follower of sport, having played
rugby, football, cricket and hockey at representative
level.
Christopher sees the close
partnership between home and the school as being vital
in the shared enterprise of bringing each child to
the end of their time at TAS having achieved the best
possible outcomes.
