TAS Year 12 OP Scores 2012
Congratulations to the TAS Year 12 class of 2012 who have achieved excellent Overall Position (OP) results. The figures that are notable are that at TAS in 2012 we had:
- 11% with OP 1-2
- 30% with an OP 1-5
- 59% with OP 1-10
- 83% with an OP 1-15.
TAS Principal Christopher Daunt Watney said TAS students have traditionally achieved strong OP results giving them the opportunity to pursue a diverse range of career paths.
"These are very strong results, and I thank all concerned for the dedicated teaching, family support and the hard work that has gone in over many years to achieve these results."
"While the school recognises the outstanding achievements of students attaining a single figure OP score, it is important to note that as a school TAS focuses on the entire cohort and not just on the 2.5% who make up those in the State who achieve an OP 1."
"We are proud of the achievements of the Class of 2012 throughout their time at TAS and we wish them all the very best as they move into their new lives beyond school, confident that they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead," said Mr Daunt Watney.
Individuals from the TAS senior class of 2012 will pursue a variety of courses, reflecting their personal preferences and underscored by the school's commitment to academic excellence and to the provision of co-curricular programmes designed to broaden each student's horizon and potential.

School Zones time change
School Zones New times - 7am-9am & 2pm-4pm
You may be aware that it has been decided to expand the concept of having standardised school zones throughout the State of Queensland. This initiative was first started in Cairns in 2010 and has now been promoted by Transport and Main Roads to apply to all schools in the State, as from today, unless there have been special exemptions.
The only difference for our region is that the standard times are now different with 07.00-09.00hrs and 14.00-16.00hrs now being the preferred time of operation for reduced speed limits, i.e. the morning time period has been bought forward by half an hour to 07.00 rather than 07.30Hrs.
As you may appreciate, this change has involved the replacement of a large number of signs (paid for by the State), over the recent school break. If your schools' signs haven't changed already, we anticipate that all works should be complete by the end of this week.
And don't forget ... drive with extra caution whenever you are near a school.
