Home About TAS Enrolments Scholarships
The TAS Scholarship Programme

A limited number of scholarships are available and these fall into three categories: Merit, Academic and Music. Scholarships are available to students who are either already in Secondary school (Years 8-12) or who are about to enter Secondary school (Year 7 students). Scholarships are available to TAS students and applicants from other schools.

Students are invited to apply for Merit, Academic and Music Scholarships and these are advertised in the media and on the school's website. Academic scholarships are awarded solely on the performance in the ACER Scholarship examination. Music scholarships are awarded following auditions that are held at the school and Merit scholarship applications are assessed at the school against the criteria of level of overall involvement in the life of the school and of the community, academic performance and service.

A scholarship may range in value from between 25% and 75% remission of tuition costs (all other costs associated with attendance at TAS remain payable) and it is envisaged this concession will apply for the duration of the student's time at TAS. Scholarships are reviewed annually against the student's performance at school during that year.

Non-current students applying for a TAS Scholarship are required to submit a TAS Enrolment Application form and pay the associated fees and charges. Both current and non-current students who are offered a TAS Scholarship are subject to the terms and conditions of the TAS Enrolment Application.

TAS Merit Scholarships

TAS Merit scholarships are awarded for all round merit. Students applying are expected to be in Year 7 and above.

Application is made directly to the school and students should submit summary details outlining their achievements in a variety of areas: academic, music, drama, art, sport, community service (eg lifesaving), dance etc. Students applying for Merit scholarships should be in the top third of their academic year. Two references from teachers or other interested adults who are supporting the applicant should also be included in any submission. Merit scholars are expected to involve themselves in the full life of the school.

TAS Music Scholarships

TAS Music scholarships are awarded following auditions with members of the school's Music Department. Students from TAS and other schools are eligible to apply and scholarships are available to students in Years 7-12. Music scholars are expected to contribute to the musical life of the school and to participate in Music Camps and other activities associated with the Music Department at TAS.

TAS Academic Scholarships

TAS Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of results achieved in the ACER Co-operative Scholarship Testing Programme (CSTP). The CSTP is externally set and marked by the ACER and students who wish to compete for this award at Levels 1, 2 or 3 register on-line. The tests are administered at the school. Academic scholars are expected to continue to be towards the top of their year group throughout their time at TAS.

TAS Academic Scholarships are awarded based upon the results of an independent examination conducted by ACER (Australian Council for Education Research), recent academic history and an interview with parents and applicants.

Applications for TAS Academic Scholarships for 2013 have closed.
